Ed will discuss some
interesting phenomenon commonly observed in HF propagation. HF Doppler
shifts recorded with Pactor will be presented that show splitting
in the F-layer during the daytime as well as movement of the electrons
in the Earth's magnetic field. These data imply that the electrons
within the F-layer travel as inhomogeneous
pockets originating from pulsations within the auroral ovals.
Also included in this topic will be a discussion of the origin
of HF backscatter as determined by Pactor and SuperDARN Over the
Horizon Radar.

Laboratory where he published 30 scientific papers.
