This program is designed to answer basic questions about DXing for the Ham new to HF or the seasoned veteran who wants to explore something different. He’ll also cover the relative importance of receivers, antennas, and power: how to find and work DX, QSLing, and DX awards and other DX information. Harry is on the ARRL DXXC Honor Roll, has been awarded 5 Band DXCC, 5 Band Worked All Zones from CQ magazine, ARRL Five Band Worked All States, and numerous other operating awards.

   
   
   
  Harry was born in Los Angeles, CA on October 8, 1928. Joined US Merchant Marine at age 16 in October 1944 serving until April 1946. Joined US Army July 1946. Received battlefield appointment to 2d Lt in Korea, July 1952. Served in various capacities at a number of US and overseas posts. Retired as Lieutenant Colonel, Corps of Engineers on May 31, 1974. Has undergraduate degree from University of Omaha (1964) and MBA from National University (1979). Worked as Director of Plant Operations at Mesa Vista Hospital in San Diego from 1977 until retirement in 1990. Became Ham in 1973 as ZP5HZ in Paraguay. Received Conditional Class US license in same year as WA6YOO. Upgraded to Advanced and Extra Class in 1987. Received present call in June 1999. Married to Jerry Allaine Carter in 1982. Awards include DXCC Honor Roll (Mixed and Phone), 5BDXCC with 12,17 and 30 meter endorsements,DXCC Challenge Plaque with 1500 endorsement, 5BWAS, 5BWAZ, IOTA (700+) and separate DXCC awards for Mixed, SSB, CW, 10,12,15,17,20,30,40,80 meters and RTTY. Member of QCWA, FISTS (5966), 10-10 Nr 8237. Former ARRL Section Manager (San Diego Section),Past President of Palomar Amateur Radio Club, Past President of EARS, Secretary/Treasurer of San Diego DX Club, VE Team Leader(Escondido, CA)for SANDARC-VEC. Member of ARES and US Army MARS (AAR9LX). Hobbies other than Amateur Radio include travel, photography, gardening, and gourmet cooking.
