KG6TUK is realtively
new to amateur radio. Her interests in amateur radio began when
the southern California Wildfires of 2003 made it clear that regular
communication channels cannot always be relied upon to get the job
done during a disaster. It was during her responses as a volunteer
with the American Red Cross to the hurricanes of 2004 and 2005 that
she came to know and be grateful for the Safety Net. This presentation
is an affirmation of the steady and ever-ready presence of the amateur
radio community as seen through the eyes of a new operator. It will
highlight the challenges and the teamwork that prevail during times
of disaster. Two special guests will share a little bit of their
local contribution to the national safety net. Please join KG6TUK
in celebrating the daily efforts of the amateur radio community
that, bittersweetly, show their true colors during times of disaster.
If you have a story to add to the Safety Net, please bring it with
you!
The photo is coming in another email as an attachment.

Sara
